Editorial policy
Open Culture Guide aims to make cultural subjects clear, careful, and worth thinking about. We explain what supports a claim, distinguish fact from interpretation, and correct the record when we get something wrong.
Accuracy and context
We check factual claims against dependable published material appropriate to the subject and provide context where a detail could be misleading on its own. Interpretations are presented as interpretations, not as established facts. When accounts differ, we describe the difference rather than smoothing it away.
Independence
Editorial choices are made for their relevance to readers. Commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions, and we do not promise favourable coverage in exchange for support or placement.
Corrections
Readers can report a specific error through the Contact page. We review correction requests, amend confirmed errors, and make material changes clear where appropriate.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid or partner material is labelled so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, that fact is identified clearly.
